Technofabulous PLASTICOAT TRASHION - upcycle contest
Description
For the past month, people at work have been graciously donating trash to me - plastic bags and packaging - so that I could make a coat for the Upcycle contest. Here it is!The lining is made of an old white blanket - that was on its way to the dump until I rescued it (cigarette burns and all!). I fused plastic bags and packaging onto an old trashed seafoam-color bedsheet, giving it a leather-meets-watercolor look, then sewed over it all, quilting it. The result is a waterproof winter coat that is warm and surprisingly durable.
Note: All materials were thoroughly washed prior to construction.
The coat closes with velcro.
I also made a removable belt for it, out of a scrap of translucent gunmetal grey vinyl (leftover from making some curtains) and d-rings.
Size womens S-M or men's XS-S
When closed up, bust measures 38" and the coat is quite thick. Will fit bust 34" - 37" best
