BIG Chicken Quilt

Description

Quilting is an art of cultural memory. In my case, it was taught to be by my grandmother on her rural Wisconsin farm; then filtered by the Wobbly politics of her father with a healthy dose of post-Vietnam midwestern stoicism of my father mixed in with the DIY, reject corporate BS, punk rock ethos of the Reagan Eighties.

BIG CHICKEN measures twin bed size. This is the first time I attempted fully machine quilting anything. So there are a few rough spots. (Twenty-plus years doing hand work and I gotta try something new...) This is inspired by an old Better Home & Gardens quilting book an aunt gave me in 1978 as I was just starting to quilt.

It is fully machine appliqued. The chicken, the eggs, the "cage". Backed with a vintage green and yellow floral cotton. Batting is a basic polyfil. Hand bound with blanket stitch.

Washing this must be handled with care. Full washing instructions will be provided.
