Description

This piece was developed during a close family member's battle with breast cancer.

I had no intentions of making a piece like this, but the clay seemed to form itself in my hands without any conscious direction from me. When it was finished, I understood that this was a piece of work that contributes to the recognition of breast cancer awareness, celebrates the survivors who have suffered, and commemorates those who lost their battle and have passed on.

The piece measures approx 40cm in length. It is strung on rubber cording and embellished with rubber rings and sterling silver spacer beads.

The focal pendant has a drop of around 55mm, and is constructed in a palette of colours that represent new growth. The rear of the pendant is impressed with spirals and star patterns and highlighted with metallic green. The clasp is a sterling silver parrot clasp with an onyx dangle.

Profits from the sale of this piece will be donated to the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation.
