Obsessing over Clea Duvall Embroidery

Description

This is one of a series of embroideries which allow me an excuse to obsessively research the tattoos of celebrity lesbians, dykes, trannys, and queers.

First I embroider white cloth to look like the notebook paper we all used in high school, then I choose a tattoo to render in grey thread...so that it looks like a pencil drawing.

Clea Duvall is the actress is "But I'm a Cheerleader" and "Carnivale". These 2 tattoos, "Lucky" and a 7 in a circle are on her back.

When finished, the cloth is starched, ironed, and attached to a plywood "frame". The cloth is attached using rubbery adhesive dots which can be removed without leaving a mark on the cloth. So, if you prefer to attach the cloth directly to a wall, carry it around in your pocket, or even sew it onto a t-shirt, you can. These can be hand-washed if necessary.
