Description

Two-in-two chainmaille and formed, oxidized copper flowers make this necklace a fascinating combination of elegance and earthiness. Fine Silver wires are tipped with a fine silver slip, fired, and then embellished with intense aqua facetted Apatite rhondelles. These are wrapped and bundled so that they fan out in all directions, tucked inside the petals which curve gracefully as if to cradle their precious contents.

A very fine Labradorite briolette pointed at both ends shows incredible peacock blue flash and four facetted oval labradorite stones connect to the handmade chain above which is 15 3/4" in length. This necklace fits slightly longer than a choker so that the focal pendant of flowers and briolette (this section is 3 3/4" long) hangs just below where neck meets chest. It looks great worn with a low cut top lying against your skin; V-neck or boat neck, or with a form-fitting round neck top.

In the sunshine the Apatite and Labradorite light up as if illuminated from the inside.

The folds, curves, and recesses, and the contrast of shadow and light in this necklace give it the feel of infinite depth and an air of mystery. If you look very closely at the Labradorite briolette you will see some rare metallic-looking speckles inside (known as schiller). This is common in Sunstone but not very often seen in Labradorite.

The piece opens and closes with a smooth, copper lobsterclaw clasp. Stamen are attached to tiny round sterling beads in the back of each blossom.

This piece is very special and one-of-a-kind. It took many hours to complete. You are sure to be noticed from across the room with it on. Watch for it in Ornament Magazine!
