Original Artwork - Bird In The Trees

This is a mixed media collage of a bird sitting two branches.
The branch coming in from the left is made from yellow Japanese rice paper and the leaves are made from a red Japanese paper. The branch coming in from the right is made from a silkscreen print on and old sheet of music and the leaves are made from pink and red Japanese rice paper. The bird is cut from a small section of map from Melbourne street directory (Melways) and the yellow leaves at the top are made from Japanese rice paper. I used Indian ink to create the background and also used inks over the leaves and bird. The line detail in the bird was created using a fine liner. I have also used makers in the bird, and the background has coloured pencil to create the orange texture. I have painted clear glue over the whole artwork to give it a glossy shine. There is a white edge around the artwork to use when mounting and framing. This white boarder is not clean and sections contained colours seeping across from the artwork.

The artwork is quite dark with some areas of colour appearing almost translucent; this contrasts well with the solid brown/orange background colour.

The back of the artwork is not clean white paper; there is ink and small sections of newspaper stuck onto the paper due to the glue used on the front. When I work I am not very neat, however I always make sure that the actual area of the artwork that you view is of a high standard.

The artwork is original and one of a kind and will be shipped in a protective plastic sleeve. Artwork is signed and dated on the back. Please note copyright remains with the artist.
