Necklace Fiber art and bead Clam Shell Neckpiece

Necklace for a mermaid or sea loving woman.

The concept and color "Seafoam" was the inspiration in creating a fiber clam shell that had washed up on the beach with sea diadems crusted inside.

The clamshell base is Dry Nuno Felted. Hand spun wool yarn from Felt Studio and a bit of natural color Icelandic sheep fiber were needle punched into a wool jersey base. (Nuno - pronounced New No, is also know as laminate felt.) This method of fiber work is somewhat like painting with wool fibers and yarns on a wool fabric canvas. .

Twists of the wool yarn form most of the neck chain. The cones, hook and extender chain are salvaged findings from a vintage necklace. Three crystal beads span the wool chain and hook.

Size:
Necklace length aprox 18 inches - extends to 21 inches with extension chain. (46 cm to 53 cm)

Clam shell medallion is 6 1/2 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches high.
