This dress glows-in-the-dark using electroluminescent wire. It will run for about 6 hours on 3 AA batteries.

Halter-backed A-line floor-length sundress; shiny gold satin, with yellow electroluminescent wire "racing flame" decorative detail and maroon chiffon overskirt.

I used specific fabrics to soften the hard lines of the EL wire, and to create a fiery animated effect when the dress is "walked": the gold satin reflects the electroluminescence, and the contrasting maroon chiffon overlay creates a range of light intensity as it floats closer and further away from the satin and EL wire.

This dress is designed to be worn in a dark environment for visibility; with motion it resembles a wandering or dancing bonfire.

This design has been featured at Southern Exposure Gallery, the SIGGRAPH CyberFashion Show, Maker Faire, and ETech conference.
