This piece is loosely adapted from a photograph I took of my pond a couple of summers ago. In the desert, lily pads get beat up by the sun and heat, resulting in prematurely yellowed leaves like the one at top. I have several waterlily photos, but liked the composition of this one. It looked like something I could have fun with, playing with shapes and colors. The canvas is gallery wrapped and the edges are painted with the darkest green in the painting.
This was my entry in EBSQ's Waterlily show.
