Four-Letter Words No. 2
Description
I grew up in a household in which there was no cursing. When I used the word “pussy” in a school poem in second grade, I was utterly clueless as to why the kids found it so funny. A few years later, when I heard my mother let the word “damn” slip, I was shocked. (I was then about 12.) Yes, I led something of a sheltered life.Eventually I moved to NYC, where (as Lewis Black says), f*ck is a comma. I’m now exploring my relationship to four-letter words in a series of paintings.
“Four-Letter Words No. 2 (cuneātus: Lat. wedge-shaped)” is acrylic on canvas, 8 x 10 inches (20.5 x 25 cm) and comes unframed with my apologies to Robert Indiana.
