Elvis in Dramatic in Blue - 18 x 24 print of my original oil painting

Description

Like millions of other people I was a huge Elvis Presley fan. That is, I was a big fan as soon as I was allowed to be. My mother protected me from the outside world by policing which recording stars I could listen to. Elvis was on her “banned” list but eventually she mellowed and I was no longer denied the joys of Elvis.

I painted this in blue for dramatic effect. The color seemed to have been a theme in so much of Elvis’ life (“Blue Suede Shoes”, “Blue Christmas”, “Blue Hawaii”). I believe the smile I gave him really captures his personality.

This is the second in a trilogy of paintings I did of Elvis. The first is with poetry and the last shows him just three months before his death. You will find all three paintings in this gallery.
