Two Cats original relief woodblock print

Description

"Two Cats" is an original relief print carved from wood block and printed with oil based ink on Okawara, a handmade Japanese paper. The print is signed and titled on the back with its edition number in pencil. I print each piece by hand with a wooden rice paddle so every one is unique. This piece is one in a limited addition of 19. It was originally created for the Big Block Print Exchange hosted by the Philadelphia Print Collaborative in 2006. I used a reduction method meaning that the blocks were destroyed as part of the art-making process and no future editions can be printed.

The text in this print reads: "I want to eat your skin like a whole almond" and is a quote from a love poem by Pablo Neruda. This piece has been exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

The image measures 11.5" x 14". It comes with a bright white mat and acid free foam core backing which measure 16" x 20" – a standard frame size for customers' convenience.
