From the BEASTIARIUM series:

This is an original silkscreen print, printed on old book pages with archival inks. The dimensions vary based on the size of the book pages, from 4.5" x 6.5" to 6" x 8".

It is part of a series of chimera or animal hybrids - this one of a bird, a butterfly and a beautiful sea creature with flagella.

Some of the book pages have old handwritten notes on them. Some are from an old botanist's catalog; some are from The Ingoldsby Legends; some are from Ilsa Heron; all books are at least as old as 1923, some going back to the mid 1800's. Some are from a a book with really thick paper that has turned a delicious shade of rusty brown with age (see the third image here)...and some of the book's printing is faded or slightly "off", giving the book pages themselves a handmade look. Delish!

I will post new pictures and more details about the books when I return from my current artists residency!

These are mounted on matte board (fastened with artist's tape so you can remount if you prefer when framing). I wrap them in plastic, and send in a bubble mailer. All Wondercabinet items are made in a clean, smoke-free environment and are shipped with care and love.
