Set of six letterpress cards, 5.75" x 4.375" (A2) with matching envelopes. Set includes two of each design: baby raccoon, baby squirrel, and a baby bunny. Colors are blue purple (baby raccoon), light olive green (baby squirrel) and terra cotta (baby bunny). Blank inside.

ALL ABOUT LETTERPRESS (and then some!):
The art of letterpress involves inking raised type and then impressing it directly onto the printing surface. The result is an impression that you can see and feel. The oldest printing technique, letterpress began in Europe during the 14th century and remained the only printing method in use for centuries to come. Originally, type was hand cast and individual characters were set by hand into lines. Today, letterpress designs can be created via a computer and then output to engraved plates. The result is a wonderful mix of the old with the new. In today's world where mass produced digital copies are commonplace, the tactile quality and nostalgic feel of letterpress are truly unique.

My letterpress printing is done on a Vandercook No. 3 cylinder press circa 1941. Vandercooks are consider to be the 'gold standard' for quality letterpress printing. New Vandercook's are no longer being manufactured and the demand for these old treasures is great. I consider myself lucky to have her! Weighing in at just under a ton, she won't be going anywhere. This is an entirely manual press with no electric motors or parts. Sheets of paper are individually hand fed and the crank is manually turned to produce the impression. The results of this time consuming process are well worth it!
