The Orobouros painting

Description

The Orobouros, the serpent that eats its own tail. It is a multifaceted symbol familiar to much of antiquity. Sometimes it represents infinity. It is also a device of many hermetic cultures and was analyzed by Jung as an archetypical symbol.

I have emulated the "World" Tarot by including the 4 Apostles and 4 Winds in the corners. What does it hold in its claws? The glowing mystery...

This is a 6 x 6 acrylic painting on a gessoed hardboard surface. I used Golden, Liquitex and Utrecht brand acrylics and a "Gessobord" brand surface.
