Bavarian Floral Schachtel - Hand Painted Box

Description

This heirloom quality Bavarian Schachtel (Box) is a reproduction of a Scottie Foster chair design. The rich loden green, earthy orange and bright blue accents reflect the predominant and traditional color theme seen throughout the state of Bavaria in Germany. Double loading and traditional wet-on-wet techniques were used along with defining line work to create this piece in an authentic German Bauernmalerei* style.
The box itself is 12 inches in diameter and 2-1/2 inches tall with sides that are 1/8th inch thick making this Shaker style box extra strong and durable. Decorative brass rivets accent the seam. This typical Bavarian design compliments the sturdy bentwood box. The interior has a burnt orange paint finish.

Examples of Bauernmalerei, which is often referred to as Bavarian Folk Art, can be seen on everything from wooden thimbles to tin boxes, glassware, pottery, clothing, and large pieces of furniture.
