Original Relief Print, Pinky Yawlps

Description

"Pinky Yawlps" is an original relief print carved from a linoleum block and printed with oil-based ink on Subi paper. The print is signed, titled, and numbered in pencil. This is one print in an edition of 5.

In this image, Pinky screams before a mountain range, wide river, and swirling sky. The cascading mountain in the foreground appears almost as fire coming out of the cat's mouth. The sharp points of Pinky's teeth mirror the many pointed shadows in the distance.

This image is part of a series of prints called "The Adventures of Pinky Sphinx". A sphinx cat is a hairless breed of domestic feline. I don't own a sphinx, but I am fascinated by their appearance and have included these unusual creatures in much of my work. The entire "Pinky Sphinx" series (see the picture) was recently on display at the Elliot University Center Gallery at the University of NC.

The image measures 8" x 10" on 9" x 12" paper. It comes mounted on a foam core backing which measures 11" x 14" – a standard frame size for customers' convenience.
