Many names for the August moon are related to the harvest: i.e. corn moon, harvest moon, barley moon, vegetation moon, sturgeon moon and the moon when cherries turn black. In the Northwest, an important part of the harvest is fishing. At this time, the salmon begin to return home, coming full circle in their eternal cycle of migration. It is a time when things come to fruition and a time to take stock of nature's bounty.

This necklace is of the Millennium Moons Collection. The moon reminds us of our connection to the cycles of earth and sky. Throughout history,the moon has told us when to plant, harvest, hunt and celebrate. To mark the start of the new millennium, this series of 12 moons was created, reflecting the message of each month's moon. May these moons bring you pleasure as you mark special times in your life.
