Halibut, Earrings

Description

The halibut is one of the largest fish in the northwest waters. Its flat shape is adapted to deep bottom dwelling, which may give rise to the mystery and power associated with its place in native stories. Sometimes known as "great one coming up against the current", this force from the deep has a role in several creation stories. The halibut is even ascribed with the power to break land masses into island groups.

These earrings measure 1" long by 3/4" wide and are on ss ear wires.

Each piece is created using ancient lost wax casting and is antiqued by hand.
