diamonds and lace necklace

no diamonds or lace were actually involved in the making of this necklace, but rather a melted plastic bag and big gaudy fake plastic diamond. looks a bit like lace though, doesn't it? and, well, we all know that diamond's fake. but that's ok! i love the high class/low class juxtaposition in this piece: though it's actually hearty, plastic, and made of recycled trash, it looks delicate and elegant.

plastic bag has been reinforced with many many layers of varnish. bling has been affixed securely with a healthy dollop of epoxy. hung on a lovely 17.5" sterling silver wire which hooks closed in the back. lacy plastic bag is 5" long and 2.5" wide.
