Mandragora doll with glow-in-the-dark eyes
Description
This is a very sweet (i think) mandrake doll with glow-in-the-dark eyes.She is made from fine brown fabric with 60%wool on the outside, and eco-friendly and washable filling in the inside.
She is around 12 inches high ( 30 cm ).
The mandragora comes wrapped in a fabric-leaf and well packed in a cellophan sleeve to you! (see pictures)

The mandrake or mandragora is a root dating back thousands of years, which was covered with mysterious and wonderful legends over the ages, because of her resemlance to the human figure.
The plant grows natively in southern and central Europe, especially on uncultivated fields and stony wastelands.
The belief was, that the mandragora would hide when men approached it, and it was very dangerous to pull the plant from the earth, because it would let out a horrible shriek, that could deafen or even kill somebody.
To avoid that fate, a black dog should be tied to the plant and lured with some food to pull the root from the earth.
The person, who wanted to possess the root, would plug his ears, and the scream would kill the dog instead.
It was also beliefed, that a whole Mandrake root placed in the home, would give the house protection, fertility, and prosperity. Where there is Mandrake, demons cannot abide. Money placed beside the root is said to multiply.

Anyway, in this case no dogs died, and i can assure you that the mandragora is a good one (in case you are frightened by all the legends :) Bathing her weekly would not be so good, i think; but she is washable, also it would be better to wash her by hand (to avoid that the eyes become loose).
The doll is not for babies or very small children, because of little parts like the eyes (although i did sew them firmly on).
