Round Cinnabar Dangle Earrings on Sterling Silver Earwires

Description

Cinnabar items are made by painting multiple layers of lacquer onto an item, letting the item dry between each coat, and then patterns into the name. Cinnabar originally got its name from the toxic mineral of the same name, containing mercury sulfide, that was once used to give the brilliant red color to the lacquer. In modern times, cinnabar is formed from a dyed red resin that contains no harmful mercury.

These earrings consist of carved rounds of cinnabar, approximately 1/2" in diameter, finished with Turkish bright silver caps, and hung on sterling silver ear wires. They hand just short of 2" in length.
