Recycled Book Clock - Altered Book

Description

A one of a kind recycled desk clock, handmade from the actual book 'Canterbury' by W. Teignmouth Shore. No publication date, but the book appears to date from the early 1900s, published by Adam & Charles Black, Soho, London.

I rescued the book from a trash bin outside a second-hand book store. It was slightly damaged and missing some pages but it still contains a number of undamaged, coloured, illustrated plates by W. Biscombe Gardner as well as a wonderful folded map of Canterbury and a layout of Canterbury Cathedral in the back of the book. The cover title, credits and decoration are in gold leaf.

This clock requires one AA battery (not included). It keeps very good time and would make a perfect gift for an Anglophile, traveller or anyone who loves books, travelling, or history.
