Remember the "Kilroy Was Here" phenomenon of World War II and the Korean War? And clear into the 60s?

Rumor has it, that little doodle was scribbled in such hard-to-reach places as the peak of Mt. Everest, the torch of the Statue of Liberty, and the Marco Polo Bridge in China. According to lore, this guy had heads of state talking. It's quite an interesting story. But I won't bore you with the details.

These beads didn't start out to be a glass version of the "Kilroy Was Here" doodle. I really just wanted to practice my "eyes." But seeing them all, piled together.....staring at me.....this bit of pop culture came to mind.

"Kilroy" is made of three separate beads; one set of eyeballs, and two little hands. These beads were placed on a pin. Pretty sophisticated, huh? It's as close to finished jewelry as you're gonna find in this shop. :)

He is rather large at 3 inches long. The beads span 2 1/2 inches. He's a little heavy and I wouldn't try wearing him on a fine silk blouse or your best lingerie. (Hey, you never know.) But he is pretty cool on a thick t-shirt, a sweatshirt, or a dense sweater.

He could even be used as a funky, one-of-a-kind drapery tie-back.
