Australian Fantasy Banksia Pendant

Description

This pendant has been made from fine silver and polymer clay. It measures 60mm including the wire loop bail.

This pendant was made using a real banksia pod. It was painted over 20 times with precious metal clay slip, and then fired in a kiln. The banksia pod underneath burns away, and we are left with a perfect replica in fine silver (.999)

Once the pod was fired, burnished, polished and patinaed, I inserted red and purple polymer clay into the little mouth-like areas where the seeds come out. The result is a pendant that is clearly a banksia pod - but not one like you've ever seen before!

The chain is not included.
