Handwoven Rag Rug--Confetti

Description

This rag rug was handwoven on an old Sears and Roebuck loom.

I found the brightest sweatshirts I could (past their prime, of course), washed them up, and began cutting. I cut each sweatshirt across the body into approximately 1.5" wide loops--stretchy, like giant rubber bands. I looped them together in random order. Where they are looped together, there are cool bumps in the rug.

The poly/cotton warp's bright colors complement the "rags" well. The rug features headers that are hand-tied in a unique knotted fringe. It measures 25" x 28" in size, not including the fringe.

Thick and soft, this rug would be perfect for use in a bathroom. It would serve well on a wood, tile or vinyl floor.

My rugs can be machine laundered on gentle cycle, and machine or line dried. Fringed rugs do not co-exist well with chewing dogs, vacuum cleaners or heavy-duty, killer wash cycles. Between launderings, shake outside to remove dirt, or use a hard-floor attachment on your vacuum--something without a beater.

All of my items are from a non-smoking home.
