Brilliant Red Abstract Kilnformed Sushi Platter

Description

This is a 8" x 8" (203mm x 203mm) kilnformed sushi platter. This brilliant red kilnformed sushi platter is highlighted with colorful white rods of glass called stringer. Each piece of stringer is hand bent over the flame of a candle to get the desired shape. Then the platter was made by laying up multiple pieces of glass all custom cut to fit together in the kiln, the hand bent stringers were added for detail, and then it was formed by two separate kiln firings in order to obtain the desired texture and shape. This piece would make an excellent serving plate, sushi plate, or just a one of a kind piece of glass craftsmanship to put on display. The piece is made entirely of Bullseye glass and is food safe.

Each glass item I make is a one of a kind piece. There may be similar designs but the technique and medium make each piece unique.
