The "Ailinn" Celtic Bridal Set was created for the Fantasy Artist's of Etsy (FAE) street team Celtic Myth and Legend contest!

I have given the name of this set "Ailinn" from the beautiful and tragic Gaelic love story of Baile and Ailinn. It is a story much like Romeo and Juliet in that their future together was thwarted, not by feuding families, but by a cunning ghostly enemy. Out of their place of burials two trees grew. A yew-tree bearing resemblance to Ailinn covered Baile's grave and an apple tree in likeness of Baile grew over Ailinn's grave. So great was their love, however, that even death would not keep them apart. In time the two trees were cut down and made into wands upon which the poets of their two lands wrote the songs of love-tragedies. After nearly two hundred years these two memorials found their way to the hall of Tara by order of Art the "Lonely", the High-King of Ireland. It was in that great hall the two wands sprang together never to be parted again.

The "Ailinn" is a three piece set including a Circlet(headpiece), necklace, and earrings. The centerpiece for both the circlet and necklace is a beautiful silver pewter Celtic knot adorned with a sparkling crystal Swarovski rhinestone. More sparkling crystal Swarovski beads can be found surrounding each centerpiece and forming delicate drops on the side of the face and down the neck. Celtic pewter knots, silver metal faceted beads, and sparkling diamond-cut stainless steel curb chain help to complete each piece.

The headpiece measures 20 inches but has a 4 1/2 inch silver plated curb chain extension. The necklace measures 17 inches but has a 3 inch extension also of silver plated curb chain. The earrings hang down about 1 inch.
