Amise Dale - a bookGoddess

Description

Amise Dale is the patron saint or something like that for those blessed with short, frizzy hair. Her hat tries but does not contain the frolicsome mass of hair (yarn) which just wants to shout to the world "Free at last, free at last! Thank God Almight - free at last!"

Her dress is a colorful bit of paper and her skirt (who says you can't wear both at the same time!!) is a bit of green marbled paper made by my friend Barbara who I'm trying to lure onto Etsy. Wheels instead of feet will get Amise easily around whatever reading material you care to voyage into. Gold jewelry (paint) on her hat, neck and even ornamenting her wheels make Amise very fancy but as you can see... by her serene expression, she is NOT a snob at all.

9 3/8" tall X 2.5" wide (238mm X 65mm) she is just the right size for a bookmark but so fabulous that you might be tempted to frame her. Although she is just a bookmark - though perhaps the most exquisite bookmark your books have ever seen (since when do books have eyes?).

I made her face from play-doh, then painted it to resemble an old bit of metal left out in the weather for a few centuries. Add a crazy variety of papers both handmade, junk mail, purchased paper, paint and glue --- and you have a completely original bookmark which really will make your reading hours a lot more fun. If you can bear to buy her and then give her away -- then she'd make a nice gift for that special someone you know who has everything... everything EXCEPT a fabulous bookGoddess.

Personally -- I suggest you buy a few -- they make nice teams when bought in groups plus it's easier to give one away when you already have a few of them in your books.
