This bracelet is in the Byzantine — or Birdcage — weave. The Byzantine is possibly the most classic and recognizable rope-style chain maille weave.

Very small 21 gauge rings (4mm in diameter) are used to achieve a delicate look, but the nature of the weave itself is quite substantial. The bracelet is just 1/8-inch wide (4mm).

This Byzantine bracelet is made from sterling silver rings and findings. It closes with a lobster clasp; you can substitute a shepherd's hook or toggle clasp if you prefer — you can see an example of a toggle clasp here:
