Description
In 1202, mathematician Fibonacci introduced the West to a sequence of numbers using rabbits to elucidate his concept.How many pairs of rabbits will be produced in a year, beginning with a single pair, if every month each pair bears a new pair that becomes productive from the second month on?
The total number of pairs, month by month, forms the sequence 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55, and so on. Each new term is a sum of the previous two terms. This set of numbers is now called the Fibonacci sequence. These numbers come up surprisingly often in nature, from the number of petals in various flowers to the number of scales along a spiral row in a pine cone.

This is sister number one of three. She is made from red wool felt and sewn with contrasting black stitches. She stands 18" (46 cm) tall and is 9" (23 cm) from nose to ear and is hand screenprinted with a number swirl- the number three altered and rotated to make a pattern. Each number swirl features a button in the center that recalls the pattern and helps make her feel quite glamorous.
She may remind you of Alice's rabbit or the velveteen rabbit as well. The rabbit metaphor has been used often in mythology and literature. For me it always recalls intuition, regeneration, and redemption.
