Turquoise Feedsack Handbound Journal II
Description
Brightly colored, patterned feedsack cloth enticed homemakers of the 1920s-1950s to consume one brand over another. This clever marketing strategy capitalized on the industriousness of U.S. homemakers, who reused the fabric to make clothes and other items for their households. In similar fashion, an authentic feedsack has been laundered and backed with acid-free paper to create nonporous bookcloth. It covers this 128-page handbound journal.
Sheets of pale green-blue Hahnemuhle Ingres text paper are cut by hand with a paper knife to simulate the paper's natural mouldmade deckled edges. This acid-free paper accepts writing, printmaking, charcoal, and pastels.
This journal is bound with turquoise waxed linen thread. Covers are cut from sturdy, acid-free bookbinder's board. A pale turquoise ribbon is secured inside the book's spine for use as a bookmark.
This journal stands 6.5" tall and measures 5.25" across when closed. Text block is slightly smaller than cover dimensions.
