Green Curve Cup and Saucer Set

Saucers make the whole experience of drinking coffee or tea so much better, more luxurious. More than simply catching the errant drip before it hits the table, saucers make the act of drinking more tactile, more pleasurable. After many attempts, I have finally figured out how to make the perfect saucer for my curve cup in exactly the right way. The cup is designed with a very comfortable 2 finger handle. A curving pattern undulates around the perimeter, visible inside and out. Glazed in a two tone green color scheme, and interplay of satin matte and high gloss surface make this set a tactile and visual pleasure to behold.

All of my work is first thrown, then completely cut apart and carefully put back together to yield a structural decoration, visible on the inside and outside. The glaze acts as the glue to hold these pots together. Although they may appear to be quite fragile, the glaze chemistry has been mastered, resulting in a very durable pot. Dishwasher and microwave safe, but I recommend handwashing all handmade pottery, simply because it is so much more precious than that industrial stuff.

This cup will hold about 12 Oz.
