About the Derek Schultz collection: It all started in 1988, when Derek branched out from Russel Wright pottery to encompass the melamine designs. His favorite Russel Wright pattern was "Ming Lace" with the leaves embedded in the plastic. Derek then branched out to other melamine lines (e.g., Lifetimeware, Brook Park Modern Design, Branchell ColorFlyte, ...), and from there the collecting encompassed a broad range of melamine and other plastic accessories. Over the years, many people helped him learn about melamine, particularly B.A. Wellman in Massachusetts, and he even interviewed Joan Luntz! Derek's collection is one of the largest I've ever seen, and I'm hoping that there is something out there for everyone! Currently Derek specializes in designing displays of information. He still loves the plastic, just doesn't have the room for the 120,000 some odd pieces that will be listed on this site----so please check back for updates on this site!
