Audrey Hepburn - 8-1/2 x 11 print of original painting
Description
There has never been a more elegant actress than Audrey Hepburn. I’ve admired her all my life, which is why I felt compelled to paint her portrait. She was beautiful, graceful, multi-talented, and a true lady.As a young girl living in the Netherlands Hepburn survived the Nazi occupation. After the war, she moved to London to become a ballerina and worked as a model to help pay expenses. That led to a string of small acting roles and eventually the starring role in the Broadway play Gigi. Hepburn's first American film was opposite Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday, a role that landed her a Best Actress Oscar. She went on to star on such classics as Funny Face, Sabrina, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and, of course, My Fair Lady. In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked Hepburn as the third greatest female star of all time.
After her film career, Hepburn was appointed a goodwill ambassador to UNICEF and later honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work.
Did you know Marilyn Monroe wasn’t the only one to sing "Happy Birthday" to President John F. Kennedy? Hepburn actually sang for JFK the following year, on his final birthday
Ironically, as I thought about how to paint Audrey Hepburn My Fair Lady popped up on TV. Suddenly I knew exactly how I should portray this ultimate “lady”.
