Purple Marianne of the Republic of France Vintage Postage Stamp Scrabble Pendant

Description

This purple stamp was circulated between 1967 - 1971 in France. Called Marianne of the Republic of France, and was designed by Henry Cheffer.

Marianne has been used on most definitive stamps issued since 1944, as well as several commemorative stamps. When Marianne is not clearly wearing a Phrygian cap, as on this Muller stamp, she is known as ‘the Republic’.
