Description

This striking necklace was made by Trillium Artisans member Jamie Daniels of Spystress.

The focal point of the necklace consists of a hand-cut piece of an upcycled black vinyl LP record, topped by a smaller piece that was cut from an old CD.

The flash and glint of the silvery side of the CD gives this piece a contemporary look while the "groovy" black record provides an old-school retro flair. Combined, you have the perfect blend of old and new.

The two elements of the pendant swing freely from a simple jump ring that is attached to a stainless steel choker with a strong magnetic clasp.

Both the record and CD pieces have some scratches on the surface - these flaws are inherent to the beautiful nature of upcycled work. All edges have been filed with rounded corners. Show off your love of music with this fabulous, one-of-a-kind necklace!

Trillium Artisans is a nonprofit community economic development organization that supports low-income crafters in the city of Portland, Oregon, USA, who create handmade items using a minimum of 50% recycled or reclaimed materials. We fit into Etsy's definition of a collective: "A Collective is a group of people who know each other personally and make things together: either sharing a studio space and/or sharing knowledge."

Jamie Daniels loves being creative with unlikely materials. After a silversmithing course, she stumbled upon a unique "found" material to use in place of sheet metal. She says, "It's easy to make pretty things out of brand new stuff. BUT, it is way more interesting to make one-of-a-kind items using salvaged material."

Records are what Jamie found in place of pricey sheet metal that was loud and harder to cut. Recycled vinyl adds character, uniqueness and simplicity. Jamie's record jewelry is made to show how reusable material can be elegant enough to wear. People throw records away all the time because they are obsolete but Jamie thinks they have another use...

Thank you for looking at Jamie's necklace, and please see our other listings for more gifts, accessories, and decor items made from recycled materials. Indie crafts with a green twist!

We are a proud member of the PDX Etsy team.
