Description

This great Victorian-style tea set has everything you need for a tea party for four--just add your tea pot!

You'll get a full 15 piece set of white ironstone tea wares, all in the Royal Mail pattern featuring a horse and carriage brown transfer on white ground. All pieces are marked on the bottom: "Royal Mail / Ironstone / England" (cups) or "Royal Mail / Fine Staffordshire / Ironstone/ All Permanent Colors / Made in England" (everything else). Some also impressed "Myott / England".

It's hard to know the exact date on these. They date to after 1910, but they are vintage. If I had to guess, I would bet that they date between 1910 and 1950.

The pieces are as follows:

4 teacups, 2 1/2" H x 3 1/2" diameter; all with light to moderate crazing to the glaze, but not chips or cracks.

5 saucers (one extra for breakage, or serving), 5 3/4" diameter; 4 of the 5 with light to moderate crazing (other one has no crazing visible) but no chips or cracks.

4 bowls, 5 1/2" diameter x 1 1/4" high; all with light to moderate crazing and some discoloration on the bottom; one with a very small chip under the lip (not visible).

1 sugar bowl with lid, approximately 5 inches high with lid; very good condition with almost no crazing.

1 creamer, four inches high; very good condition with a medium-sized chip in the lip and a very small chip in the foot.

Individual teacup/saucer sets in this pattern on Replacements.com sell for $7-15. I've seen the creamer and sugar bowl for up to $35 on antique websites. You get the full set for a great price!
