djun djun - recycled maple flooring

Description

Made from recycled hardwood flooring, this drum is called a djun djun ( doon doon ). It is basically a cylinder with a head on either end. The dimensions are 24" tall, and both heads are 11" across. This wood is beautiful. It has great color from light cream, to caramel, to dark brown. It also has some great figuring and some cool spalting.

It has 20 staves that we cut, glue, rout, file, sand sand sand, and varnish. The rings used to head the drum are 1/4" steel we roll and weld ourselves. The rope is high quality nylon core with very little stretch that is usually found on sailboats. We use goatskin for the head as it lasts long and stays in tune really well. I did not shave this drum all the way but I can before it is sent if you prefer.

All of our drums are great for beginner up through studio quality playing. A tuning and care sheet goes out with every drum and please don't hesitate to e-mail or call with any other questions. We have been making drums about ten years, love what we do and just want to spread the music.
