This is not a soft and feminine piece of jewelry. It IS a striking piece of fiber art, to be worn with attitude.

I have these addictions for fiber and beads . . . working on this necklace let me satisfy both. It can now satisfy your need for a piece of fantastic fiber jewelry!

It all started with what is hands down some of the most wonderful commercial wool in the world (in my not-so-humble opinion): Noro Kureyon! I used a length that goes from a handsome charcoal to lovely bright blue in color and created a knitted, insanely long (64") tube (I-cord) which I joined to itself.

To hide the join, to provide more visual interest (to add beads for goodness' sake!), I created a 2.5" long beaded bead. I used peyote stitch and some fantastic size 6 Japanese seed beads in silver-lined gunmetal. This bead is stitched onto the center of the knitted cord and does not slide. It makes a striking focal point for a piece of fiber jewelry that is rich in texture and color.

The photographs show a few of the ways I can think of to wear this piece. I bet you can come up with more. Note that it can even serve as a belt for the right sized woman.
