Custom order - light seeking, solar powered bugbot

Description

Meet bert. he's just over an inch of solar powered loveliness. plonk him on a sunny window sill and he'll toddle off towards the brightest spot. he'll also wiggle under other light sources (i.e. light bulbs) but at a slower rate, he loves the sun :)

he was made by me and my trusty iron from mainly surface mount components tangled together in what my dad always referred to as birds nest soldering. his 'brains' such as they are are, are set in epoxy resin to keep them safe. his eyes are a couple of LEDs. these don't light up but rather use one of the frankly magical properties of LEDs, their light sensitivity, to tell bert which teeny pager motor powered leg to wiggle in order to get to the best patch of sunlight.

apart from pretty shiny blobs of solder (all deliberate, honest) he's decorated with bright heat shrink tubing.

his solar cells are the tiniest i could find all linked together on his back.

so no batteries, he'll never run out of omph, all he needs is some light and off he goes... but do be careful cause he likes to leap off windowsills while you not looking, and he also likes to leap into the mouth of waiting pussy cats :)

Bert is now crawling his way towards his new home but son of bert is waiting (in pieces) in the wings for you. It will take me around two weeks to make a new little bugbot and as he (she?) will be a custom order you can suggest colours you like and other bits and bobs you think of. send me a convo to see whats possible.
