Caladiums are indigenous to South and Central America, and have been in cultivation in Europe since the late 1700's.
I adore caladiums for their intricate striations and rich foliage colours, in stunning pink and green tones.

The Caladium Necklace features a plethora of pink and green gems in many fascinating cuts and shapes, resulting in a magnetic statement piece.

A handforged sterling silver teardrop shape has been wrapped with fine silver wire, and edged with faceted silver beads. More silver beads undulate around the inside of the teardrop, forming a base for tourmaline rondelles which graduate in hue from deep green through to mint, then on to soft pink shades.
These beads all serve to draw the eye to a juicy pink sapphire teardrop dangling from the centre.

A long tassel of luscious gems is suspended below; a myriad of stones and shapes including pink Peruvian opal marquise, hearts and rondelles, rutilated green quartz onions, watermelon tourmaline carved leaves, green mystic quartz hearts and rondelles, pink ruby hearts and magnificent tourmaline in varying asymmetric cuts.
At the bottom of this profusion of colour and texture lies a substantial (17mm) green rutilated quartz pear briolette.

The elaborate focal is suspended from a chain which has been further enhanced by alternating pink Peruvian opal and mystic green quartz rondelles.
The nape of the neck is not forgotten either, with a sweet collection of pink and green gems dangling from the suspension chain.

The Caladium necklace has been oxidised to a lovely vintage patina, and all metals used are sterling (925) and fine (999) silver.
The necklace measures 19", with the extension chain lengthening the necklace by a further 2.5" (approx), and the focal hangs an opulent 4" from top to bottom.
