Hand silkscreened Lifestyles Banana Flavoured condom pillow with giant fabric condom

Nothing like the image of a condom 100 times its actual size lying on your bed to remind you to wrap before it up before you get it on!

I know, haha. MORE CONDOMS. I made this screen with the leftover emulsion I had after I taught a mini class on silkscreening. The emulsion was expired and the screen started breaking up quickly, and the fabric was EXTREMELY difficult to print on, so I didn't make very many of this style pillow even though I love it. If anybody asks why I am obsessed with condoms, I don't know. I just used to have a lot of fun collecting all the colors I could when I would go to the Youth Project in Nova Scotia and there was a bin of free condoms. I got this banana condom from there. [That's why there's French on it ;D ]

This pillow measures about 18" by 18" and both sides are lovingly hand-pulled silkscreens printed by yours truly on a very soft yellow fabric. The 'happy condom' pattern printed on the inside is also drawn by me, burned onto a screen and hand printed. The whole pillow is stuffed with a polyester filling.

As for the pillow, the fabric is REALLY SOFT. I don't know what it is, but I got enough to make 2 pillows. This pillow has more stuffing that the regular condom pillow, and feels much softer because of the fabric, and the fact that the printed ink is only where the black words are. I wouldn't mind keeping them and actually having them on my bed. :]

There are two pockets- one on either side. The zippers are incorporated into the line in the design of the pillow. The smaller one is used to hold actual condoms, and the larger one holds an oversized fabric condom. The condom is made with a pretty stretchy material, but it's not AS stretchy as the regular coloured one because I couldn't find the same stuff in yellow! Grr.

I don't use any machines to print. All I have is a screen, a squeegee and a backing board, and PROUD OF IT! I do not test print on fabric- I test print on newsprint and reuse it many many times, this way I minimize waste.

**** when I printed this one, the screen started breaking and there is a very feint tiny black line in the center of the front of one of the sides as a result. Also there were a few runs in the fabric on the actual condom, on the little rib part, if you unroll the whole thing. I felt bad and it made me sad and so that's why this one is slightly discounted.
