pale geometrics singlet

Description

This delicate tile features a palmera leaf gently hanging from the corner, peeking from beneath a floating teal square. The metal was etched to give it texture, and colored a pale blue. The silver of the metal shows through, giving the effect of sunlight glistening on a watery surface.

The piece has been mounted to float above a wooden backing. I routed the edge of the wood to create a decorative border, and layered it with three different stains until it became a rich reddish mahogany brown. I routed a keyhole hanger into the back of the board so that it hangs perfectly flush with the wall.

The finished piece measures 7 1/4" square (18.4cm); the inner tile is 4" square (10.16 cm)
