Multicolor Puzzle - Wide and Colorful Peyote Cuff (3037)

Description

This cuff was designed to recognize World Autism Awareness Month (April 2009). Although I don't personally know anyone with an autistic child, I imagine it must be heartbreaking for parents and other family members not to be able to connect with someone they love.

In honor of World Autism Awareness Month, I will donate $25 for every cuff sold during the month of April 2009 to the Autism Society of America.

"Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain, impacting development in the areas of social interaction and communication skills. Both children and adults with autism typically show difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities."

This colorful cuff is woven in two drop peyote using Japanese Delica beads in twelve different colors. All of the beads are opaque, and they really pop against the white background.

At 1-7/8" wide, this is one of the larger cuffs I've made. It's 6-3/4" long, when clasped. The closure is a loop and toggle made from the same beads used in the cuff.

Beadwoven bracelets are so comfortable and fun that you'll want to wear them everywhere. They have a texture and weight like no other jewelry - like bead fabric. This one, with all its colors, will surely make a statement on your wrist; and when people stop you to comment about it you can tell them about Autism!
