The Knit Store began offering these beautifully handcrafted swifts a while back for friends and local yarn enthusiasts that were in search of a quality/affordable product. Do not let the price fool you. These swifts are made from hand selected oak, and worked with care to provide a quality product which should last for many years. Specifications:
This brand new oak swift/skeinwinder was handcrafted in our Illinois workshop with fine oak. This model is our medium swift which has been finely sanded and finished with one of three stain finishes. The available finishes pictured are (from left) Golden Oak, or Red Mahogany. Please indicate to us, either through etsy or paypal during the payment process, which color stain you would prefer. If no preference is made, I will send Golden Oak. The stain finish not only enhances the beauty of the grain in oak, but it also provides a layer of protection that penetrates into the wood. This swift is designed to be used on any level surface such as a table or the floor. We use 5/16" dowels that are adjustable to 6 different positions along each of the 3/4"x 30" arms which are able to accommodate skeins ranging from 25" to 60" in circumference. This swift can be used to turn hanks of yarn into center pull balls with your ballwinder (not included), or to wind a hank from loose yarn. The swift disassembles for easy storage. Yarn not included.
