Handmade Hat Making Tool, Groove Tolliker, Brim Kettle Curl Edge, Five Eights of an Inch Diameter Curling Tool
Description
This item is a "Groove Tolliker" Pencil edge Curling Tool, made from solid Hard Rock Maple. On all of my hat making tools, I inlay a small Abalone Shell dot, and engrave my signature and date on each one.
The bottom has one carved 5/8" diameter groove, designed for a small Kettle Curle, or a Cattle Curl brim edge.

These are used to roll up, or down the edge of a Custom Hat Brim, or Millinery Arts Product.
I make these items to custom order, copying the groove and shape from antique hat making tools.
For each custom order, I make a handful of extra copies to sell to other hat makers. And so this tool is one of the extras I built.
I have custom made several different shapes and sizes, for producing various brim edge curls, such as the Homburg, the Pencil, the Kettle Curl, the folded up Overwelt, and the folded under Underwelt edge.
