Thrown from lightly speckled tan stoneware and glazed in a very nice powdery blue this full-size yarn bowl can handle yarn balls approaching six inches in diameter (the photo shows a 4-1/2" ball to illustrate scale). It stands about 4" tall with a maximum diameter at its shoulders of 6". Its throat collars in to a clear opening of 5-1/4".
Its two separate yarn guides (one "j-slot" and one "porthole" guide) afford the option of using the best guide for the project. For instance use the "J-slot" for projects you might want to remove from the bowl without cutting the yarn or, when you want absolute security against having the yarn slip out of the guide you can opt for the "porthole" guide.
This is a very functional bowl glazed inside and out in the same soft blue speckled glaze. Its unglazed footring showcases its beautiful buff-colored clay and also bears my original mark and signature.
My yarn bowls are designed and crafted to concentrate weight near their bottoms, resulting in a lowered center of gravity that better resists tipping over in use.
No lead or lead compounds were used in making this yarn bowl. It was proudly made by hand in the United States of America.
