oil on glass, mixed media on paper
13 x 18cm (~5 x 7in)
The butterfly itself is painted directly onto the glass, hovering above a simple collaged background. I can't seem to get enough of the player-piano reel -- it's so elegantly mechanical. A slight slip of peach-colored fibrous tissue paper adds a little accent behind the butterfly.
The text of the piano reel reads from the bottow up, revealing the mysterious non sequitor "when the morning glories wake, the morning..."
The painting is facing inward, but can also face outward, reversing the image and showing the brush strokes. Ready to hang in a simple clip frame.
