Love my wee golden rose; looks awesome. I prefer the clean look, without the needle showing, and without penetrating the fabric at all, which this design allows. I stick the whole needle through the hole, and leave the safety/backing to gently press forward on the back of the lapel, keeping it secure. Looks nice, doesn't sag, and doesn't damage my suit. BE CAREFUL TO NOT BREAK WHEN REMOVING THE SAFETY. I was a bit confused on how to remove the pin safety/backing. The needle enters a silicone-like material, and would not pull off using minor force. I thought at first it might have been a screw? Because the pin is delicate, you should NOT use much force to attach/detach the safety. Eventually, I figured out I could gently swivel the pin in the silicone until it came loose enough and has been easy attach/reattach ever since.
